Pahela Baishakh celebrated with great enthusiasm in dists

Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year-1422 was celebrated in different districts on Tuesday with festive mood and enthusiasm with a vow to build a non-communal, happy and prosperous Bangladesh. Different socio-political and cultural organisations observed the day through various programmes . Our correspondents and agencies report :
Sylhet Correspondent reports :Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year-1422 was celebrated in the Sylhet city and its adjacent areas since this morning today with festive mood and enthusiasm together with a vow to build a non-communal, happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
Children, youths, men, women and activists of the sociocultural, voluntary and professional organisations wearing traditional dresses came out on the streets after sunrise to welcome the Bengali New Year.
Besides, hundreds of men, women and children, in traditional colourful clothes, thronged Sylhet Model high school playground, Mirabazar open stage and Shishu Academy and other venues especially the bank of the river Surma for celebrations of the New Year in the city.
Marking the celebration, Sylhet district administration arranged a colourful rally from Collegiate School premises. After parading some of the city streets the rally was ended at the Shishu Academy open ground where a daylong ‘Boishakhi, Children Amusement Fair and Cultural Function’ was opened.
Cultural groups and different organisations arranged various programmes like musical functions, colourful marches and street side Baishakhi fairs in the city.
Barisal Correspondent says: ‘Choitro Sangkranti’ and ‘Pahela Boishakh’ was observed in Barisal city with various colourful programmes and enthusiasm for bidding farewell to outgoing 1421 and welcoming Bangla New Year 1422 on April 14 and 13, Tuesday and Monday.
Charukala Barisal organised traditional ‘Mangol Shovajatra (procession of well being for all) ‘ from Brojo Mohun Bidyaloy (B M School) ground on Tuesday.
The programme was jointly inaugurated by Mir Mijtaba Ali, senior cultural activist and Shohidul Alam, DC of Barisal with ‘Rakhi Bandhan (friendship ties) ceremony about 8:30 am.
Shoibal Kanti Chowdhury, metropolitan police commissioner of Barisal, inaugurated Dhak Utsav organised by Udichi at the same ground before starting Mangol Shovajatra.
Mangol Shovajatra of Charukala ended at Barisal City College ground carrying motifs of Bangali folk and daily life.
Charukala Barisal also arranged a two-day long ”Lokojo Sangskritik Prodorshani ( folk cultural fair) ” at Barisal City College ground focusing on regional life, folk and heritage including exhibition, preparation and marketing of different handicraft items, performing folk songs and dramas like Jari, Sari, Royani, Hoyla.
A juvenile painting competition also held at Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall by Charukala Barisal.
Three-day long ‘Boishakh Utsov’ with ‘Boishakhi Mela’ (Bangla New Year’s fair) and cultural functions arranged by Udichi at B M School ground started from Tuesday.
Shabdaboli Group Theatre organised two-day Boishakhi Utsav at central Shaheed Minar with Lathi Khela, Chander Hut at Barisal T B Clinic field, and Planet World Children Park at park premises.
Local businessmen at Hatkhola arranged Choitra Sangkranti Utsav, Boishakhi Mela, and cultural programme in the city from April 12-15.
Kheyali Group Theatre organised ‘Sangskritik Adda’ with cultural show at their office premises to bid farewell and welcome Bangla new-year from April 13 evening to April 14 early hours.
Under the programs for bidding farewell and welcoming Bangla new-year local businessmen clearing their enterprises observed ‘Halkhata Utsov’ on April 14.
Rangpur Correspondent reports: Bangla Nabobarsho -1422 was celebrated with much enthusiasm in Rangpur on Tuesday.
 Different government and non-government organisations chalked out various programmes on the occasion. Different socio-cultural organisations and NGOs took part in the programmes.
The officials of government and non-government organisations brought out a colourful procession in the morning that paraded the main roads of the town. State Minister Moshiur Rahman Ranga open a colourful procession .
Traditional Bengali food like ‘hilsa fish’ and ‘panta’ rice was served among the people. Folk dance and song competition was held at local Public Library premises.

Narsingdi District Administration arranged three day Baishakhi Mela with cultural function on the occasion to celebrate the Baishakh at the Moslah Uddin Stadium here
 State Minister for Water Resource Lt (Rtd) Mohammad Nozrul Islam Hiro (Bir protic) formally inaugurated the function as Chief Guest with Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi Abul Hana Morshad Zaman in the chair. While Assistant Deputy Commissioner (General) Suriya Begum, Assistant Deputy Commissioner (Ravi) Md Kamal Hossain, NDC Syed Samsul Tabriz and Narsingdi Sadar upazila Nirbahi officer Motakabbir Ahmad.
Shamsuddin Ahmed Exak Music Academy also arrange a week long Baishakhi Mela and cultural function to celebrate the Baishakh under the Banyan tree of Arshi Nagor in the town.
Police Super Amana Begum formally inaugurated the function as chief guest.

Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj reports: The Pahela Baishakh , the first day of Bangla New year- 1422 was celebrated on Tuesday amid traditional festivities and fervour.
Kishroeganj District administration, Kishoreganj Press Club, different socio-cultural groups rendered songs and stage performances in district town and others upazila town across the district. The tradition to celebrate the day has been continuing since Mughal Emperor Akbar’s time.
The whole Kishoreganj town was crowded as thousands people, irrespective of age and gender, came out to the street with rising of sun.
Local dailies and weekly also published the special supplements.
Town people celebrate this day by wearing traditional Bangali dress and by eating fried Hilsa fish. Security blanket was thrown over the town’s Gurudayal Govt. College, Govt. Mohila College, Old Court Premise, Shaheed Minar, The Nurshundha Lake, Alor Mela, Rathkhola, Kalibari Road and Press Club to avert any untoward accident. A colourful Mongal Shovojatra was brought out in the town led by DC SM Alam and SP Md Anwar Hossain Khan.
Bagerhat Correspondent says: Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year was celebrated in Bagerhat district town and its all nine upazilas with due traditional fervour, festivities and fanfare on Tuesday .Different socio-cultural organizations and the district administration chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the Pahela Baishakh in a befitting manner.
The day’s programme began with a colouful rally that started from the local stadium at 7 am paraded the main roads of the district town. The rally that was led by Al-haj Dr. Mozammel Hossain MP of Bagerhat and former minister, Alhaj Adv Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha MP of Bagerhat and Happy Boraal MP from Woman Reserved Constituency and participated by hundred of people irrespective of ages and ages.

BSS from Gaibandha reports: Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year-1422, was celebrated in the district on Tuesday with much enthusiasm and traditional festivities with a vow to build a non-communal,happy and prosperous country. In the celebration of the day district administration, Gaibandha Government College, Sadar Upazila Model School and College, Udichi Shilpi Gosti, Dariapur Sangskritik Jote, and other sociocultural organizations including some NGOs chalked out the elaborate programmes.
The programmes included mongal shobhajatra, eating of pantha vaat with fried hilsha fish and chili, discussion meeting, staging drama, arrangement of Boishakhi mela and kite flying. The programmes also included nagor dola, rendering pala gaan, jari gaan,shari gaan and folk song, reciting poems, holding halkhata in business establishments and distribution of sweets of caste and creeds.
