The death toll from Sunday’s disastrous launch capsize in the Padma River in Shibalaya upazila reached 71 with the recovery of one more body on Tuesday.
The body of Subol Sutradhar, 70, son of Durjoydhar Sutradhar of Chhota Boali village in Shibalaya upazila, was retrieved from Mandrakhola, four kilometres away from the accident spot, in the evening.
Meanwhile, a total of 10 passengers remain still missing in the incident. The missing passengers include three women and a child.
They are: Abul Hashem Hasu, 55, Sanchit Sutradhar, 25, of Shibalaya upazila, Manu Miah, 65, of Ghior upazila in Manikganj district, Hamida Begum, 50, Anwara Begum of Lohadangha upazila in Narail, Marufa Khatun, 6, of Shailakupa upazila in Jhenidah, Jewel Rana, 27, of Bhanga upazila in Faridpur, Lipi Akhter, 22, of Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia, Brac official Mostafa Kamal, 35, of Dhaka district.
