‘Padma Bridge to bring dynamism to agro-based economy’

The launch of the Padma Bridge will bring great dynamism to the agro-based economy of Bangladesh. Agriculture in 21 districts in the south-west of the country will undergo major changes.
In particular, farmers in the area will get a fair price for their produce and in a short time will be able to send agricultural products to different districts of the country, including Dhaka. As a result, the risk of wastage of the produce of the farmers will be greatly reduced. Fish from Khulna and Bagerhat, vegetables and flowers from Jessore, Mugdal-watermelon-fish from Patuakhali, lots of onion-lentil-mustard in Madaripur, rice and betel from Barisal and the whole south-western agricultural economy will be strengthened. In a written statement at a press conference held on Thursday (June 23, 2022) at the BAU Teachers Complex organized by the Democratic Teachers Forum, a Pro-Awami Teachers’ organization of Bangladesh Agricultural University, General Secretary Prof. Dr. Md. Ramiz Uddin said these things. Democratic Teachers Forum President Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Hadi Nur Ali Khan presided over the press conference .
Professor Dr. Md. Ramiz Uddin said, besides, the role of Padma Bridge in the livestock sector will be significant. In the south-western districts of the country, especially in Shariatpur, 81,000 tons of meat and 1.5 million tons of milk are produced this year.
At the press conference, the former president of the BAU Teachers Association, Prof. Md. Joynal Abedin, former general secretary of BAU Teachers Association Prof. Subas Chandra Das, Professor. Md. Enamul Haque, Proctor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohir Uddin, Director Planning and Development Prof. Dr. Md. Harun-ur-Rashid and members of BAU Democratic Teachers Forum and BAU Journalists Association were present.
