Boro Paddy Harvest Festival has been organized in Baruna area of Hail Haor in Srimangal upazila of Moulvibazar. Moulvibazar DC Mir Nahid Ahsan inaugurated the festival on Tuesday (April 12) by cutting BRIE Paddy-58 In the ground.
Among others, Kazi Lutful Bari, Deputy Director, Department of Agricultural Extension, Moulvibazar, Muhammad Akhtaruzzaman, Executive Engineer, Moulvibazar Water Development Board, Md. Nazrul Islam, Executive Officer, Srimangal Upazila, Md. Yusuf Mia.Local Farmer.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension, bumper yields of boro paddy have been achieved this year. The target for Boro paddy cultivation this season was 56,600 hectares. Boro cultivation has increased to 56,850 hectares this year due to good price of paddy.
Paddy has started ripening in different areas of the district, the Department of Agriculture is advising to cut paddy before storms, hailstorms and landslides.
