Paddy at Tk. 100 per quintal in Bhairab Mokam

Although the stock of paddy in Bhairab River port Mokam is increasing, but due to less buyers the price is lowering. For low sale as compared to import, there are now 60 thousands monds of paddy in stock. The price of paddy has come down to Tk.100 per quintal.
However Bhairab and Ashuganj Mokam have significance for location near to Itna, Mitamoion, Nikli, Austagram of haor areas, Dirai, Lakhai, Ajmeriganj of Habiganj. For-centuries, economic links have been established in those areas with river port Bhairab. Despite good road-rail communication now, significant of those areas do not end. Businessmen and Rice Mill Owners of Dhaka, Narayanganj, Comilla Gazipur, Narshindi, Chandpore, Munshiganj and Lalmonirhat districts buy paddy from this place.
Dipak Roy, a boatman who brought paddy from Dhanpur in Itna of Kishoreganj said, no one could be happy knowing price as the price reached at Tk.50 per mond .
Al- Amain of Jashim Traders was asked about the reasons for fall in paddy price; he said, first of all, there is the effect of lockdown. Because buyers are not able to come easily.
However, though the prices are not good, the farmers are not refraining from harvesting paddy.
