To pay tribute on the birth anniversary of the troupe’s founder president Syed Badruddin Hossain, Padatik Natya Sangsad (TSC) is going to host a five-day theatre festival from April 7 to 11 at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the city’s Segunbagicha area.
With the slogan Mukto Koro Manobota, as many as 10 plays – Kuhokjaal, Jonomanko, Bhongo Bongo, The Trial of Mallam Ilia, Nakshi Kanthar Math, Macbeth, Namgotrohin Manto’r Meyera, and Urna Jaal –will be staged by seven local and Indian prominent theatre troupes during the festival.
Beside two Kolkata based theatre troupes, Rongokormi and Anik, the local participating troupes are – Padatik Natya Sangsad, Theatre, Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, BotTola and Arannyak. Rongkormi will stage their acclaimed plays Rojana and Antorjatra, while Anik Theatre will bring their Ekusher Golpo and Chi-kitsa to the stage in the festival.
The plays will be staged simultaneously at two prominent venues of BSA, National Theatre Main Hall and Experimental Theatre Hall.
