The drama has been adapted by Dr Tanveer Ahmed Sydney based on Lamisa Shirin Hossain written story The Lone Survivor. The drama unfolds as a young girl asks his grandfather, who was a teacher of University of Dhaka in 1971, about the war. Through stories and her encounter with a wounded freedom-fighter, the girl gets to know about the war and its sheer horror.
Actress Chamak Tara plays the role of a student in the drama. This time in today’s production, she will be seen to play two roles – student and granddaughter. Chamak Tara is going to perform on the stage after one year. While sharing her feelings she said, “Earlier, I acted in role of a student. But this time I have to perform in two roles at a time. For this reason, it is really challenging for me to portray these two roles in a drama. In fact, I am very much excited to perform on stage after one year. I am also feared in this regard. Since 2017 I have been acting in this drama.” In Kaal Ratri, Ikramul Islam will play the role of a revolt student leader. “Many days ago, I had fascination about acting in theatre plays. I have been acting with Padatik for more than one decade. After a break of one year, I am returning to the stage through this play. I believe audience will come to Mahila Samity to enjoy this drama. In fact, despite having many risks we are going to perform in this drama during Corona pandemic,” he said.
Kaal Ratri casts Sakhawat Hossain Shimul, Salman Shuvo, Jinia Azad, Joba, Jitu, Jibon, Shariful Islam, Kanta and Moshiur Rahman among others.
