The number of patients infected with coronavirus is increasing at a steady rate across the country and rising mortality. In this situation, the Pabna Community Hospital, a non-government hospital , has come forward to provide medical services to the patients suffering from corona at the time of crisis of the medical service providers, says a press release.
On April 23 Dhaka Community Hospital Trust Chairman Prof. Quazi Quamruzzaman confirmed this information to the media.
Quazi Quamruzzaman said, the country is going through a critical time due to the coronavirus disaster. In this critical time, those of us who are engaged in medical services, including doctors and nurses, have the moral responsibility to stand by the patients. Since the establishment of Pabna Community Hospital, grassroots people have been working healthcare.
“Therefore, the Pabna Community Hospital has been opened for corona treatment to provide medical services to corona patients at this difficult time in the country.”
Pabna’s Deputy Commissioner Kabir Mahmud said the process of using Pabna Community Hospital as a corona hospital for treatment is underway. The matter has already been finalized in consultation with the hospital authorities.
Pabna’s Civil Surgeon Mehedi Iqbal said that a committee headed by Deputy Civil Surgeon KM Abu Zafar has already been formed to run the Corona Hospital. The committee will review the work of Corona Hospital soon.
The Civil Surgeon further said that the issue of adding advanced technology for the treatment of Corona patients including installation of ventilators is already in the process.
Deputy Civil Surgeon KM Abu Zafar said, “The hospital has 250 beds but at present work has started with 100 beds. We will start providing medical services to Corona patients with 100 beds in the initial stage. “
He said that medical services would be provided to primary-level patients in the first phase. However, steps will be taken to treat critically ill patients in phases.
Professor Reazul Haque Reza, Principal, Dhaka Community Medical College Hospital, said the Pabna Community Hospital is run by the Dhaka Community Hospital Trust. It started its operations in 2016.
“The Coronavirus Disaster Authority has taken the initiative to work with the government through the treatment of coronavirus patients at the hospital.”
