Pabna AL leader shot dead

A local union parishad member and Awami League leader was hacked and shot dead at Sadar upazila in Pabna on Friday evening in sequel to conflict over establishing supremacy in the area.
Bakul Hossain, 40, was hacked and shot dead by the rivals on Friday evening at Anantabandh Dakkhin Ramchandrapur area in Dogachi union under Sadar upazila.
The slain Bakul, son of Md Dulal Hossain, of village Dakkhin Ramchandrapur, was the UP member of Ward No. 7 in Dogachi union and joint secretary of the same ward of Awami League.
Police and locals said Bakul had a long conflict with Mokhlesur Rahman group over collecting subscription from CNG and autobikes at Ananta Intersection. In sequel to the conflict, a killers belonging to the rival group hacked him and then shot him dead at about 7:00pm. Pabna Sadar Circle’s
additional police super Ibne Mizan said police went to spot receiving information and sent the body of slain to Pabna General Hospital morgue.
Indicating that Bakul was murdered in sequel to establishing supremacy in the local area, the police official said the police had already launched a manhunt to arrest the killers.
He also expressed the hope that it would be possible to arrest the killers soon.
Meanwhile, District Awami League office secretary Advocate Ahad Babu, Sadar Upazila Awami League organising secretary Sheikh Russel Ali Masud strongly condemned the murder of Bakul.
They also demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
