Pabna AL factional clash leaves 22 injured: 14 receive bullet injuries

Two rival groups of Awami League locked in violent clashes over fishing and establishing supremacy at village Raninagar in Aminpur police station under Sujanagar upazila in Pabna district on Sunday.
During the clashes, 22 people were injured. Fourteen of the injured persons received bullet injuries.
Police arrested five people including former general secretary of union Awami League Shahadat Hossain.
Other arrested persons were Saidul, Shariful, Arif and Delwar.
Police and witnesses said there had been a long conflict between union Jubo League president Shahinur Rahman Mster and local Awami League leader Khairul Islam over a water body in Bhadurjola beel under Raninagar union. A court has recently delivered verdict in favour of Khairul Islam. People belonging to Khairul were fishing in the beel on Sunday afternoon. At that time, people led by Shahinur and his father Shahadat launched a sudden attack and open fire on the people of Khairul, leaving 14 people bullet injured. As the clash between the two groups had spread, eight more people were also injured. Later, Kahirul’s people damaged and ransacked several houses including Khairul’s one.
Local Awami League leaders said Shahadat Hossain and Shahinur Master work for Sujanagar Upazila Awami League president and municipal mayor Abdul Wahab, while Khairul Islam is a supporter of Sujanagar Awami League general secretary and upazila chairman Shahinuzzaman Shahin.

 14 people of my group over a trifle matter. They are undergoing treatment at Pabna General Hospital.
Sujanagar municipal mayor Abdul Wahab rejected the allegations brought against him, saying that the matter was a non-political one and local issue.
Aminpur police station OC Mozammel Huq admitted about the incident, saying that they were preparing to file a case.
