We must give time to the owner of the multi-stored buildings in the city to develop good environment in order to avoid frequent fire incidents. If they don’t abide by our command, we must take initiatives against them, said Md. Atiqul Islam, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation in a national seminar on fire Hazard in buildings held at BUET Auditorium organized by ABUETA on Saturday.
Already I suggested a expert team to rectify the defects in details on some multi-stored buildings to
know the real condition and even I promised to built at least 20 model buildings and hospitals in the city which must inspire others to do the same, the mayor said.
In the seminar, Welcome speech was delivered by Qazi M Arif Convener of the program.
In the seminar, three presentations were given by three experts. They were Dr. Nizamuddin Ahmed, Dr. Maksud Helali, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering in BUET and Brigadier General Ali Ahmed Khan PSC. (Retd.)
We have also plan to build satellite Fire Station in the city because there are some barriers to control the fire during the incidents as some areas are very narrow even the roads are very zigzag which obstructs reaching the spot instantly.
At the end of the session, concluding speech was given by eminent National Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury, President, BUET Alumni.
