Overturned LPG tank salvaged after 14 hours in Bagerhat

A tank lorry of Jamuna Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) which was overturned on Mongla-Khulna highway at Sonatunia in Rampalupazilaearly Saturday, was salvaged in the afternoon after 14 hours of frantic effort.
Amirul Islam, manager (engineering) of Mongla Gas Plant of Jamuna LPG, said the gas laden lorry overturned around 3 am leaking gas from it.
Soon after the indecent, police, firefighters and officials rushed in and tried to control gas leakage using sand. Besides, the authorities requested all over loudspeakers not to set a fire in any kitchen in the locality.
Meanwhile, the overturned tank was salvaged and sent to Mongla Jamuna Gas Plant. About 17.5 tonnes of gas was loaded into the tank, the official added.
On information, four firefighter units from Bagerhat and Khulna rushed there and salvaged the overturned tank after 14 hours of frantic effort around 5 pm, said Md Masud Sardar, deputy director of Bagerhat Fire Service Station.
