Over 40 injured as villagers clash in Sunamganj

At least 40 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Derai in Sunamganj on Monday.
Locals said that the clash ensued from an enmity of between Abul Khayer and Nurul Amin of village Alinagar in Derai over occupancy of a pathway before their homes.
Supporters of Khayer and Nurul armed with sharp weapons became locked in a clash at about 2:00pm, injuring each other, locals said.
Of the injured, 10 were sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in serious condition and the rests took treatments at Derai Upazila Health Complex.
Derai police officer-in-charge KM Nazrul Islam confirmed of the incident and said that police took the situation under control at about 3:00pm.
Locals initiated an attempt of social arbitration to settle the dispute, he added.
