Over 2 lakh children to be administered Vitamin A Plus Capsules in Rangpur, Rajshahi

From next Sunday, a total of 1 lakh 29 thousand children from 6 months to 5 years under Rangpur City Corporation will be given Vitamin A Plus Capsules.
Rangpur City Corporation Executive Officer Ruhul Amin Mia said this at a press conference in the Meeting Room of Rangpur City Corporation on Wednesday morning. In a written statement, he said the capsules would be fed through 296 centers in 33 wards of Rangpur City Corporation through 33 first row, 6 second row, 4 third row supervisors and 594 health workers and health workers from 08:00 am to 4:00 pm. At this time, 20,000 children from 06 months to 11 months will be given blue color and 1 lakh 9 thousand children from 12 months to 59 months will be given red color Vitamin A plus capsules. If a baby has been given vitamin A capsules in the last four months, then that baby does not need to be given vitamin A. At this time, he gave guidance on what to do in case of capsule feeding.
The press conference was attended by City Corporation Panel Mayor-1 Samsul Haque, Health Officer Abdul Qayyum and various officials and journalists.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: A total of 63,732 babies will be fed vitamin ‘A’ capsules in Rajshahi city during the forthcoming four-day National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign-2022 scheduled to be held from June 12 to 15.
 Of those, 8,138 babies aged between six to eleven months will be administered one blue-coloured ‘A’ capsule each, while another 55,594 babies from 12 to 59 months red-coloured capsule.
 Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) authority revealed this while addressing a press conference held at the City Bhaban conference hall on Thursday.
 They sought cooperation of all to make the campaign a total success to address vitamin deficiency disorders and syndromes among babies.
 RCC organized the press conference in association with Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
RCC Ward Councilor Nuruzzaman Tuku addressed the media briefing as guest of honour.
 During her keynote presentation, RCC Chief Health Officer Dr Anjuman Ara Begum said vitamin ‘A’ supplement is essential for the normal functioning of the visual system, maintenance of cell function for growth, red blood cell production, immunity and reproduction.
She said the programme will be conducted in 384 centers in the city.
Some 768 health workers will remain posted in the centers for administering the capsules properly.
