Dengue spreading in southern region: Over 148 new patients admitted to hospitals in Barishal Divn, Bagerhat

Dengue is spreading in southern region as the infected patients starts reaching from Dhaka ahead of upcoming Eid -ul -Azha festival.
According to Barishal Divisional Health Directorate and Sher-e- Beangla Medical College Hospital sources, more 124 dengue infected patients including 71 at SBMCH admitted in the division within last 24 hours till Tuesday noon.
Till this report number of dengue infected patients reached to 689 in the division since July 16 and 379 of them returned home after getting proper treatment in last 20-days.
Four dengue patients died and rest 306 dengue patients under treatment in different public and private hospitals of Barishal division, said Dr Abdur Rahim, divisional heath director.
Dr. Bakir Hossain, Director SBMCH, added that they taking preparations to manage rush of dengue infected patients by opening separate ward at the newly constructed annex section of the hospital as the deterioration of situation apprehended by home coming visitors during Eid- ul-Azaha festival.
Mofijur Rahman Kamal, president of Barishal Diagnostic Centers Owner’s Association, said we already met health directorate officials for ensuring them about collecting government fixed charges for testing dengue infection. We yet not received any allegation about violation of government decision and if anybody violate that, action would be taken against him.
Bagerhat Correspondent adds: Some 24 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals , according to a source of Bagerhat Civil Surgeon Office till Tuesday.
In the meantime , a dengue patient named Khadiza Begum (45), wife of one Bellal Molla (living in Saudi Arabia) of village Uttar-Tafalbari under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district who was attacked with Dengu in her village on July 31 died in City Medical College Hospital in Khulna City Corporation on Monday morning while she was being given treatment. It was confirmed by Dr. S M Abdur Razzak, Civil Surgeon of Khulna.
 Al-Amin, son-in-law of the deceased said that she (Khadiza Begum) was attacked with high fever and severe headache in her residence on July 31. In the evening she was admitted to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex for her treatment.
