Over 13 lakh babies to be administered Vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules

Over 13.5 lakh babies would be administered Vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules in the second round of National Campaign for Vitamin A Plus capsule in the city on Saturday.
Chattogram Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin will formally inaugurate the city campaign at city’s Bundle Road Health Center on Saturday(June 22).
About 5000 volunteers and health assistants will be engaged for administering vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules to children in 1288 centres under 41 wards of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).
Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Azizur Rahman Siddiqui will inaugurate the district campaign at Lohagara upazila health complex of the district on Saturday.
Chattogram Civil Surgeon Office has appointed over 20000 volunteers and health assistants to administer vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules in 4861 centres under 14 upazilas of the district.
CCC officials said several mobile teams consisting of 278 personnel in the city and 500 in the district will be deputed to feed oral vaccines to the children at rail, bus and steamer stations as well as other places.
Between 6 and 11 months children will get blue vitamins ‘A’ capsules (1 Lakh units). Children aged from 12 to 59 will get red (2 lakh units) capsules If the red capsule ends, two blue capsules will be fed.
Apart from that, feeding Vitamin A capsules from 8am to 4pm ,on the day will be disseminated to nutrition as well as feeding the mother till 6 months of age.
Chief Health Officer of City Corporation Dr. Salim Akter Chowdhury , informed the Media at a press conference at City Corporation General Hospital.
He said that more than 20 mobile teams will fed vitamin A capsules to floating children at the bus station, railway station, launch ghat, city gate, Shah Amanat bridge, Kalurghat bridge and oxygen Area at the city. Councilor and President of Education and Health Committee Nazmul Haque Duke was at the programme as Chief Guest. Deputy civil surgeon, Golam Mohammad Tayeb, Dr. Sushanta Barua, General Hospital In-Charge Dr. Ashish Mukherjee, Public Relations Officer Rafiqul Islam also present in the press conference.
