Over 10m COVAX vaccines coming in 1st phase

COVAX, Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access, is sending 1,09,08,000 coronavirus vaccines to Bangladesh in the first phase. The information was revealed in a plan of the organization to provide free vaccines around the world on Tuesday.

According to the plan, Bangladesh will receive 1,09,08,000 vaccines before June this year under the COVAX program. Besides, Asian countries Pakistan will get 1,46,40,000, Indonesia 1,17,04,800, South African country Nigeria 1,36,56,000 and South American country Brazil will get 92,22,400 vaccines.

Meanwhile, Ghana, Ivory Coast, South Korea, India and Colombia have already received COVAX vaccines in the first phase. The COVAX vaccines will reach 20 more countries this week.

The Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access Facility (Covax) is a combination of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI) and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations.

The goal of COVAX is to ensure that all the people in the world have access to antidotes for infectious diseases.
