Chattogram Bureau :
The production capacity of the second project of Sheikh Hasina Water Treatment Plant at Rangunia is 14.3 crore liters per day. Due to the old pipeline, it is not possible to produce and supply water in full force.
So production is being increased step by step.On March 17, for the first time, Chattogram WASA started supplying the water produced by the second project of Sheikh Hasina Water Treatment Plant in Rangunia to the customers in the city.
The water produced in the first phase is being taken directly to the reservoir of Halishahar B block and from there it is being supplied to Agrabad-Halishahar area.
Later, it will be gradually supplied to other areas of the city including Patenga, said the concerned engineer of Chittagong WASA.
In this regard, Project Director and WASA Chief Engineer Maqsood Alam told that 14.3 crore liters of water can be produced daily from Sheikh Hasina Water Treatment Plant.
The entire Halishahar-Patenga area has an old pipeline. For this reason, the water pacer is being gradually increased.
The daily demand of WASA water in the city is 50 crore liters. But Chittagong WASA used to supply 36 crore liters so far.
