Outgoing Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative to Bangladesh Mike Robson on Monday paid a farewell call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique at his latter’s office on the campus.
Assistant FAO Representative Dr. Nur Ahamed Khondaker was present at the farewell meeting, among others.
During the meeting, Professor Arefin thanked Mike Robson for successfully completion of his assigned duty in Bangladesh.
The VC also said “he (Mike) played pivotal role in undertaking various development projects on food security in Bangladesh during his tenure”.
Mike Robson also praised Bangladesh’s achievements in the food security and climate change issues.
He, however, assured Professor Arefin to continue the ongoing support and cooperation of FAO to Bangladesh in this regard and hoped that the country would move forward in the future.
Later, Mike Robson addressed a dissemination ceremony of the end-line survey reports of IAHBI (Integrated Agriculture and Health-based Interventions for Improved Food and Nutrition Security in Selected Districts of Southern Bangladesh) and Poultry Bio-security Project at INFS auditorium on the campus.
DU Institute of Nutrition and Food Science (INFS) organized the program while Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the university Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad addressed the function as the chief guest.
Presided over by the Director of DU INFS Professor Dr Nazma Shaheen, Director of the Office of Economic Growth, USAID Bangladesh Matt J. Curtis and Representative of UNICEF Bangladesh were present at the function, among others.
