UNB, Dhaka :
Accusing the government of its failure to run the state, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said there is no alternative to unseating this regime.
“Now it seems there’s no government in the country as the regime has lost control on everything, including the constitutional bodies,” he said.
The BNP spokesman was addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club, arranged by Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, marking the 33rd death anniversary of BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman.
Fakhrul lamented that Awami League government is destroying the country with its misrule like that of 1972-75.
Supporting the outgoing German Ambassador to Dhaka Albrecht Conze’s remarks that some parts of Bangladesh have slipped away from the state control, the BNP leader said now the ruling party men are killing and making disappeared each other. Narayanganj and Feni incidents are the glaring examples that the government has lost control over everything.”
He asked the country’s people to get united to take to the streets for restoring democracy,
peace and stability in the country by ousting the current administration through holding an election under a non-party administration.
Fakhrul criticised the Prime Minister for her remarks that BNP’s birth was illegal and said, “We want to clearly state that BNP was formed in a democratic atmosphere. The party was established following all the necessary rules and regulations of the state.”
He again claimed that Ziaur Rahman revived Awami League as Sheikh Mujibur Rahman buried the party in 1975 by establishing one-party rule Baksal.
The BNP spokesman alleged that the government has tried to remove Zia’ s name from the hearts of people through various ways but failed to do so.
Coming down hard on the ruling party leaders for branding Zia as the killer of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Fakhrul said, “You yourselves had killed your leader. You had also taken oath of the Khandker Mostak-led government when Sheik, Mujibur Rahman’s body was lying down at his Dhanmondi-32 house.”
