Orphan Day observed amid several programmes

The World Orphan Day was celebrated amid several programs with the slogan of ‘No War , No Hunger’ in the port city yesterday.
The programs include rally, discussion meet, press meet, distribution of foods in orphanages and distribution of clothes to the orphans. World Orphan Centre arranged the programs at Chittagong Press club auditorium yesterday morning. City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin graced the function as chief guest . The chief guest in his brief deliberations said we yet to reach to our desired goal during 44 years of independence and we are leg behind in social responsibility, patriotism and humanity.
He said there are a lot of affluents in the country but the mentality of providing shelter, cooperation towards orphans yet to be developed in their mind. He said the orphans are passing life with miseries in everywhere and the affluents should extend their hands for the wellbeing of the orphans as social responsibility.
He hailed the World Orphan centre for arranging such a praiseworthy programs for working with the orphans. Chairman of WOC Md. Amanullah presided over the discussion meet and the local ward councilor Shaibal Das Sumon graced it as special guest. With financial assistance of Abul Khair Steels, WOC celebrated the day.
Mentionable that this day is being regularly celebrating in Dhaka and Chittagong from 2014 . On this auspicious day, WOC distributed food stuffs in 20 orphan houses in city and distributed cloths. Mentionable that WOC was established in 2007 and working for the welfare of the orphans , sources said.
