‘Oroni’ is a book of Bangla poems, by Latiful Khabira, a student of English department of Jagannath University. She obtained her graduation in the same subject from Islamic University in 2017. The book has been published in the Ekushey Boi Mela, Dhaka. There are 105 poems in the book. The first one is ‘Amra Rohingyara’ and the last one is ‘Obosheshe’. Some of the poems bear implicit meaning, apart from explicit explanation, an indication of the poet’s bright future.
About her own works, Khabira says that human life is the bunch of memories and emotions, truth and fictions, having influence in constructing prose and poems, stories and playwrights, songs, rhymes and novels. The poet through her efforts has tried to reflect the emotions and pulse of the people of Bangladesh, enriched in culture, history and tradition.
Poems unite our efforts and rejuvenate lost valour. As for example, National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s ‘Anwar Pasha’ reminds us of our identity and lost glory. Likewise do Latiful Khabira’s ‘Mujib Tumi Pother Dishari’, ‘Amra Rohingyara’, ‘Bristir Agomone’, 71, Otit Tomar Sathi’, ‘Shishu, ‘Boishakh Je Elo’, ‘Bubu Je Hoye Gelo Kar’, ‘Naf Nadir Teere’, ‘Shiuli Ful, ‘Sei Gram Duti and ‘Dhaka Shohor’.
Tender age Khabira has many years in front to surge ahead with more resourceful works, thoughts after some reformation. She in her first book of poems has given emphasis on man and nature. At the same time, she has used her poems to uphold man and civilization. English poet Wordsworth was the poet of nature. If Latiful Khabira tries, she could follow him to reach a bright goal.
The book has been dedicated to her father and moher. n
