Bangladesh Hawkers Union
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers Union was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday. In the programme the leaders of the union urged the authority concerned to take necessary arrangements for running business of ten thousand hawkers in the old part of Dhaka south city. They demanded to stop eviction of hawkers. The leaders of the union also demanded rehabilitation of hawkers before their eviction and formulation of national policy for hawkers’ management. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the union Sekendar Hayat, its Organising Secretary Mohammad Jashim Uddin, President of the union, Kotwali thana unit Abdul Quaiyum and its General Secretary Anisur Rahman Patwari. President of the organisation Abdul Hashim Kabir presided over the event.
Pratibandhi Seba O Sahajya Kendra
‘Pratibandhi Seba O Sahajya Kendra’ has been established as a unique shelter for the disabled children and others who are at risk of disability.The organisation of Natore is working to bring the children with disabilities to the mainstream of life through free treatment and with the help of the specialist doctors and modern equipment. The center has already touched the milestone of providing nearly 38,000 services to more than 2,000 children. It is also providing service to the rural areas through therapy vans and distributing supporting materials among the disabled. The center, located in Bara Harishpur area in Natore town, is one of 103 Pratibandhi Seba O Sahajya Kendras established by Jatiya Pratibandhi Unnayan Foundation under the Social Welfare Ministry. The number of registered children who received treatment from the center since its establishment in May 2012 was 2,214.
