Bangladesh Chhatra Oikya Parishad
A rally organised by Bangladesh Chhatra Oikya Parishad was held in front of the National Museum in the city’s Shahbagh on Thursday. In the programme the leaders of the parishad urged the government and other concerned authorities to postpone all examinations of all educational institutions and tests for government and non-government services during Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community. They also demanded for shifting the date of by-election of Rangpur-3 constituency. The function was attended, among others, by Member Secretary of the parishad Hira Kumar Kundu, Debashish Shikder, Vice-President of Bangladesh Kuwait Moitree Hall of Dhaka University Sushmita Dey. Convener of the organisation Akash Chowdhury presided over the event.
Bangladesh Indigenous Women Network
A discussion on ‘Role to Resist Violence on Indigenous Women’ organised by Bangladesh Indigenous Women Network was held in the auditorium of Women’s Voluntary Association in the city’s Dhanmondi in observance of the World Indigenous Day. In the programme held recently the leaders of the organisation called upon all the indigenous people to be united against repression on indigenous women. The speakers also urged the government to take necessary steps to stop violence on indigenous women. The function was addressd, among others, by President of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad Ayesha Khanam, General Secretary of Bangladesh Adibashi Forum Sanjib Drong, its Information and Publicity Secretary Dipayan Khisa and Convenor of Bangladesh Indigenous Women Network Minu Maria.
