Bangladesh Muktijoddha Mahajote
A discussion on ‘Religious Fanatics: Militants’ Activities’ organised by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Mahajote Kendriya Command was held on Tuesday at Jatiya Press Club.Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam was present as the chief guest. While speaking Quamrul stressed upon the need for launching a social movement to combat militancy.Social movement is a must to root out militancy from the society, he said. The minister was very critical of the BNP-Jamaat clique and said, “Soon after the meeting of BNP leader with Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad, the country witnessed some terror attacks as BNP-Jamaat have link to the IS and Mossad.” He said a vested quarter is now trying to create an unstable situation across the country like what the Al-Badr and Rajakars did during the War of Liberation in 1971. The event was addressed, among others, by leaders of the organisation Monirul Islam, MA Karim and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana.
Mahila Ganoforum
A meeting organised by Mahila Ganoforum was held at the central office of Ganoforum in the city’s Arambagh on Wednesday. In the meeting the speakers called upon all women activists of the organisation to be united against extremists’ attacks and communalism. The programme was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of Ganoforum Mostofa Mohsin Montu, Women Secretary of Ganoforum Central Committee Farida Yasmin, its Agricultural Secretary Nripen Ghosh and Youth and Sports Secretary of the organisation Rawshan Yajdani. Convenor of Mahila Ganoforum Gulzar Begum presided over the function.
