Bangabandhu Parishad
A discussion on the occasion of the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahamn and the National Mourning Day organised by Bangabandhu Parishad was held in the auditorium of Engineers’ Institution in the city’s Ramna. In the programme held on the twenty third instant the speakers recalled the contributions of Bangabandhu. The leaders of the parishad demanded to bring back the fugitive killers of Bangabandhu immediatlely to get rid of stigma of the society. The function was addressed, among others, by former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, noted educationist Dr Syed Anwar Hossain, former Secretary General of BFUJ Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan and leaders of the parishad. General Secretary of the organisation Dr SA Malek presided over the event.
BD Indigenous Students Movement Council
A rally and cultural function organised by Bangladesh Indigenous Students Movement Council was held at Bakultala of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University on the occasion of International Indigenous Day. In the programme held recently the speakers called upon all indigenous people to come forward to preserve indigenous language. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of Bangladesh Adibashi Forum Sanjeeb Drong, its Information and Publicity Secretary Dipayan Khisha and leaders of different progressive students organisations. The leaders of the council also called upon all indigenous students to be united to meet this demand.
