Bangladesh Awami Sangskritik Forum
A rally organised by Bangladesh Awami Sangskritik Forum was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club yesterday. In the programme the leaders of the forum demanded execution of verdict pronounced against the masterminds of the 21st August grenade attack in front of Awami League office in the city’s Bangabandhu Avenue and killing. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the forum Azizul Haque Arzu, its Vice-President Mujibar Rahman, Cultural Secretary Farzana Sharmin Lopa and its Publicity and Publication Secretary Habibur Rahman Romel. President of the forum Sheikh Shahinur Rahman Uzzal presided over th event.
Bangladesh Philatelic Federation
The national philatelic exhibition organised jointly by Bangladesh Philatelic Federation (BPF) and Bangladesh Post Office (BPO) was held at the National Museum in the city’s Shahbagh. Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently. While speaking Mustafa Jabbar said commemorative postage stamps were historical reflection of important personalities and events for the new generation as well as an extraordinary bridge of country’s history, heritage and culture. He said postage stamps collection as a hobby is acknowledged globally for not having any age limit. The function was also addressed, among others, by BPO Director General Shudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra and BPF President Prof Dr Kazi Shariful Alam. The minister asked the organisers to take necessary measures to make the philately more popular and acceptable.
