Bangladesh Upazila Parishad Association
A discussion and voluntary blood donation programme organised on the occasion of 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by Bangladesh Upazila Parishad Association was held in the auditorium of the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday. In the programme the speakers called upon all pro-liberation forces to be united being imbued with the perception of Bangabandhu to build the country as ‘Sonar Bangla’ dreamt by Bangabandhu. About one hundred people donated blood on the occasion. The function was addressed, among others, by LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam and State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattachariya. President of the association Harun-Ar-Rashid Hawlader presided over the event.
Bangladesh Philatelic Federation
The national philatelic exhibition organised jointly by Bangladesh Philatelic Federation (BPF) and Bangladesh Post Office (BPO) was held at the National Museum in the city’s Shahbagh. Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently. While speaking Mustafa Jabbar said commemorative postage stamps were historical reflection of important personalities and events for the new generation as well as an extraordinary bridge of country’s history, heritage and culture. He said postage stamps collection as a hobby is acknowledged globally for not having any age limit. The minister asked the organisers to take necessary measures to make the philately more popular and acceptable. The function was also addressed, among others, by BPO Director General Shudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra and BPF President Prof Dr Kazi Shariful Alam.
