Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Foundation
A discussion in observance of the 70th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League and Bangabandhu’s birth centenary organised by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Foundation was held at Abdus Salam Hall of the Jatiya Press Club. In the programme held recently the speakers discussed elaborately to observe the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The function was attended, among others, by President of Bangladesh Medical Association Dr Mostofa Jalal Mahiuddin and General Secretary of Central Executive Committee of the foundation Advocate Shahab Uddin Tipu. President of the organisation Anwar Hossain presided over the event.
Grameen Jana Unnayan Sangstha
A total of fifty six students from poor families were given scholarship under Sadar upazila of Bhola district. Grameen Jana Unnayan Sangstha in cooperation with Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation organised the scholarship giving ceremony at its office recently. Chairman of Bhola Zilla Parishad Abdul Momin Tulu addressed the function as the chief guest. Each student received a cheque of Taka 12,000. Executive Director of the organisation Zakir Hossain Mahin presided over the event. At the function, speakers said despite a number of challenges Bangladesh has some remarkable and praiseworthy achievements in the education sector. Distribution of free textbook among the students of primary and secondary levels, increased enrolment rate and eradicating gender inequality in primary and secondary education have already been acknowledged in different international forums, they added.
