Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad
An emergency meeting organised by Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad was held at its office in the city’s Topkhana road. In the meeting held on Friday the leaders of the parishad expressed grave concern over the decision of Dhaka City Corporations for eviction of hawkers from footpath of the city. They also expressed resentment over the decision for stopping rickshaw plying in the important roads of the city. The leaders urged the government and other authority concerned to take necessary steps for the rehabilitation of hawkers and rickshaw-pullers before their eviction. The function was attended, among others, by hawker leaders Kamal Siddiqui, Harun-ur-Rashid, Mohammad Saijuddin, Arif Chowdhury, Khokon Majumder and Abul Kalam Jewel. Convener of the parishad Abul Hosain presided over the event. Meanwhile, the parishad organised a rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club yesterday in protest against the decision for eviction of hawkers and rickshaws.
Kendriya Khelaghar Asar
A rally organised by Kendriya Khelaghar Asar, a juvenile organisation was held in front of the National Edgah gate near Jatiya Press Club on Friday. In the programme the speakers bitterly criticised killing, raping, and repression on women and children all over the country. They urged the government to take necessary steps to halt this nuisance immediately. The speakers also called upon the conscious citizens to be united against this evil activities. The function was attended, among others, by the representatives of different juvenile, social and political organisations. Chairperson of Khelaghar Kendriya Committee Prof Mahfuza Khanam presided over the event.
