Bangladesh Nurses Association
A rally organised by Bangladesh Nurses Association, Dhaka Medical College Hospital was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday. In the programme the leaders of the association bitterly criticised raping of a registered nurse of the city’s Ibn Sina Medical College Hospital Shahinur Akhter Tania in a running bus on her way to Katiadi, Kishoreganj. They also demanded exemplary punishment to those involved in killing Tania. The function was addressed, among others, by President of the association Kamal Hossain Patwari and its General Secretary Asaduzzaman Jewel.
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society
A discussion organised on the occasion of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society was held at its headquarters in the city. In the programme held recently former Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Sheikh Kabir Hossain was conferred with ‘Red Crescent Award’ this year for his contribution to human welfare. The society started its programme by hoisting national flag and its flag. While speaking at the function, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister AnisuL Huq said Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is a friend of people during disasters. The volunteers of the society worked hard to minimise the loss and damage during the recent severe cyclone ‘Fani’, he added. Chairman of BDRCS Hafiz Uddin Majumder presided over the event.
