Coastal Journalist Forum of Bangladesh
A discussion and doa mahfil was held for the salvation of the departed souls of those who were killed in the devastating cyclone on April 29 in 1991 in the auditorium of Bangladesh Press Council (BPC) in the city on Monday. BPC Chairman Justice Momtaj Uddin Ahmed was present as the chief guest. While speaking Momtaj stressed upon the afforestation for reducing natural calamity. The event was addressed, among others, by Secretrry General of the organisation HM Arman Hossain, President of Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad Zinnat Ali Khan, Secretary General of Krishak Sramik Party Forkan Ali Hawlader and President of Jatiya Ganotantrik League MA Jalil. Chairman of the organisation Ataullah Khan presided over the function.
Bangladesh Hawkers Union
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers Union was held in front of Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton. In the programme held recently the leaders of the organisation bitterly criticized eviction of hawkers from the city’s footpath. They demanded immediate rehabilitation of hawkers before their eviction. After the rally a large procession was brought out in the city to meet its demand. The function was addressed, among others, by the Executive President of the union Murshiqul Islam, Joint General Secretary Hazrat Ali and its Organising Secretary Mohammad Jashim Uddin. President of the organisation Abdul Hashem Kabir presided over the event.
