University Grants Commission
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) at Embassy of Switzerland in Dhaka on Monday, says a press release. The objectives of the MoU are to exchange research activities especially in the field of Applied Sciences amongst the public research institutions of both the countries. As per the MoU, ZHAW will provide seed money grants, mobility grants and bridging grants to the selected researchers. UGC Secretary Dr. Md. Khaled and Dean of Applied Linguistics of ZHAW Prof Dr. Daniel Perrin signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations. UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan, Director Drs Md. Fakhrul Islam, Additional Director Jesmin Pervin and Deputy Secretary of UGC Md. Shahin Siraj, were present. The UGC Chairman said, ‘As per the MoU, the public research institutions of Bangladesh and Switzerland will jointly carry out scientific research projects on mutual interest.’ The agreement will facilitate the higher education links with Switzerland. ‘The deal will strengthen the bondage of the two friendly countries,’ he added. ZHAW has been ranked as 90th in World University Rankings 2019. It is a leading house for research collaboration which carried out joint research with partner institutions in South Asia. It also promotes and fosters scientific cooperation with other key institutions of Asia.
Bangladesh Skill Development Institute
At the Initiative of Daffodil International School and Daffodil International University and implemented by Bangladesh Skill Development Institute (BSDI) certificate giving ceremony was held at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University on Monday . Ms. Farhana A Rahman, Senior Vice President of BASIS conducted the master class and distributed the certificates among participants as Chief Guest. Presided over by Mohammad Nuruzzaman, CEO of Daffodil Family, the programme was also addressed by Lt Col. Md. Zahirul Islam (Retd), Principal, Daffodil International College, Dr. Md. Mahmudul Hassan, Principal, Daffodil International School, Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director, Students Affairs, DIU. The program conducted by Mr. KM Pervez Boby, Assistant Director of BSDI. While addressing as Chief Guest Ms Farhana A Rahman said that women will be self-reliant if they can wish. They have lot of opportunity. Lot of government and non-government bank and financial organization are ready to help them. Women should come forward and took the opportunity. Mr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman said to his presidential speech that obstacles is not obstacles if you enjoy the obstacles.
You have to find out your interest of work, keep passions on that work and be honest, no obstacle can jolt you. He also said that Bangladesh is a land of opportunity. So find your opportunity and add your innovation with it. Success will be salute to you.
