Garments Sramik Adhikar Andolon
A press conference organised by Garments Sramik Adhikar Andolon was held in Nirmal Sen Auditorium in the city’s Topkhana Road on Tuesday. In the programme the leaders of the garments industries demanded payment of full salary for the month of June and festival bonus of the garments workers immediately, otherwise they will forge greater movement to meet their demands. In the conference Coordinator of the organisation Mohammad Yasin read out the written statement. The event was attended, among others, by Moshrefa Mishu of Garments Sramik Oikya Forum, Taslima Akhtar Lima of Bangladesh Garments Sramik Sanghati, Zahirul Islam of Garments Sramik Federation, Rafiqul Islam Pathik of Samannita Garments Sramik Federation, Prokash Dutta of Bangladesh OSK Garments and Textiles Sramik Federation and Shabnam Hafiz of Bangladesh Garments Sramik Mukti Andolon.
Bangladesh Students’ Union
President and General Secretary of Bangladesh Students’ Union Laki Aktar and GM Gilani Shuva in a joint statement on Monday demanded changing of station and route of the Metrorail Project through Dhaka University (DU) campus. It may be mentioned that a section of students of DU already forged a movement to change the route of the Metrorail Project. They called upon the Government to meet the demands of DU students with a view to maintaining the congenial atmosphere of the university. The leaders also warned the Government to forge greater students’ movement if their demand is not met properly.
