Bangladesh Hawkers Federation
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers Federation was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday. In the programme the leaders of the federation bitterly criticized the eviction of hawkers from the city’s footpath without rehabilitating them. They urged the authority concerned to take necessary step for the rehabilitation of the hawkers as per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The leaders of the organisation submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister in favour of their demands. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the federation Harun-un-Rashid, Sheikh Mofazzal Hossain and Arif Chowdhury. President of the central committee of the federation MA Kashem presided over the event.
Bangabandhu Society
A discussion on “Only Bangabandhu had the authority to proclaim independence” organised by Bangabandhu Society was held in the auditorium of CIRDAP in the city’s Topkhana Road. In the programme held recently the speakers urged the youth to follow ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build an economically advanced country. Bangladesh emerged as an independent country in the world map for far-sighted and courageous leadership of Bangabandhu, they added. The speakers urged the young generation to groom themselves with the spirit of the Liberation War for building a “Sonar Bangla” as dreamt by Bangabandhu. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the society Dr SA Maleq, former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, former Pro-VC of Jahangirnargar University Prof Dr. Farhad Hossain and former Ambassador Prof Dr Nim Chandra Bhowmik.
