Civil Society leaders at a workshop said , due to child labour in dry fish sector, mainly located in Cox’s Bazar, health and education of child workers are being affected for working in hazardous condition, which is hampering their future, they said. But the child labour in the sector is yet to be recognized as the worst of child labour, they said, calling for taking necessary steps in this regard. They made the remarks while addressing a ‘Sharing Workshop on Awareness Raising with Government Key Stakeholders’ at Shishu Academy in the city yesterday. Government officials, while delivering their speeches, expressed their solidarity with the call for inclusion of child labour in dried fish sector in the list of worst form of child labourers. INCIDIN Bangladesh, a development organisation, organised the programme supported by Winrock International with financial support from the US Department of Labour. Chaired by Gaziuddin Mohammad Munir, Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Anjir Liton, Director , Bangladesh Shishu Academy, attended as special guests. Moderated by AK Masud Ali, Executive Director of INCIDIN, Adv Rafiqual Islam Khan, Manager (Policy Support) of INCIDIN, and AHM Zaman Khan, Project Director of CLIMB, Winrock International, presented separate keynote papers. Md. Jahirul Islam and Azizul Islam, representatives of Department of Youth Development, Masuma Rahman, Court Officer, Labour Legal Aid Cell and others from child helpline (1098) of Ministry of Social Welfare and national helpline (109) attended the event, says a press release.

Weeklong celebration of Global Money Week 2019 ended yesterday at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University with a grand gathering of bankers, entrepreneurs and leaders. Based on the theme of “Save learn Earn” like other 137 countries of the world, Global Money Week was observed from March 24-31 in Bangladesh. The week-long celebration has been designed with different events led by Daffodil International University and Bangladesh Skill Development Institute where the chief patron of the event was Bangladesh Bank and it was sponsored by First Security Islami Bank Ltd.
