Bam Oikya Front
A rally organised by Bam Oikya Front was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Friday with a call to stop conspiracy to increase price of gas. In the programme the speakers said that the negative impact would fall on the electricity sector if the price of gas is increased. They called upon the common people of the country to be united against this anti-people decision. The ordinary people of the country will be affected economically if the price of gas is increased, they added. The function was addressed, among others, by Central leader of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (Mahbub) Mahinuddin Chowdhury Liton and central leader of Ganamukti Union Shiblul Bari Raju. Coordinator of the front Comrade Nasir Uddin Ahmed Nasu presided over the event.
Save River Movement
A rally organised by Save River Movement was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club. Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shamim was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently. While speaking Shamim said eviction drives against illegal establishment on riverbanks will be continued. “Water Resources Ministry, Shipping Ministry and other concerned monitories and offices are jointly conducting the drives to evict illegal establishments on the banks of Buriganga and Karnaphuli rivers,” he added. He said water resources ministry is working for preventing water-logging crisis across the country as the monsoon is approaching. President of the organisation Prof Anwar Sadat presided over the event. The function was also addressed, among others, by Vice-President of the organisation Bachchu Miah, its General Secretary Advocate Anwar Hossain and Joint International Affairs Secretary Monir Munshi.
