Muktijoddha Juba Command
A discussion on the occasion of the Independence Day organised jointly by Muktijoddha Juba Command and National Awami Party (NAP) Bhasani was held in the conference lounge of the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday. In the programme the speakers said the great achievement of the Bangalee nation is an independent and sovereign Bangladesh. Bangabandhu dreamt to establish a poverty-free Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly aiming to fulfill her father’s dream. The function was addressed, among others, by Adviser of Awami League Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana and President of Jatiya Ganotantrik League MA Jalil.
Garment Workers Trade Union Center
A rally organised by Garment Workers Trade Union Center was held in front of Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton marking International Women’s Day. In the programme held recently the speakers demanded stopping of repression on women workers immediately. They also called upon all women workers to forge greater movement to stop sexual harassment on female workers inside and outside of the garments industries. The speakers also demanded reinstatement of terminated garments employees immediately. President of the organisation Mantu Ghosh presided over the event. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the center Joly Talukder, its central leaders Shilpi Akhter, Sheuly Akhter of Narayanganj district and leader of Badda-Rampura area Rina Akhter.
