Garment Sramik Trade Union Kendra
A rally organised by Garment Sramik Trade Union Kendra was held in front of Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton on Friday on the occasion of International Women’s Day. In the programme the speakers demanded stopping of repression on women workers immediately. They also called upon all women workers to forge greater movement to stop sexual harassment on female workers inside and outside of the garments industries. The speakers also demanded reinstatement of terminated garments employees immediately. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the organisation Joly Talukder, its central leaders Shilpi Akhter, Sheuly Akhter of Narayanganj district and leader of Badda-Rampura area Rina Akhter. President of the organisation Mantu Ghosh presided over the event.
Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust
A rally organised jointly by different organisations including Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust, Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon, Nagorik Uddyog, Doctors for Health & Environment and Dhaka Youth Club International was held in front of the National Museum in the city’s Shahbagh. In the programme held recently the speakers demanded relocation of chemical warehouses from the residential areas in the old city. They also demanded to implement 17-point plan of 2010. The speakers demanded for ensuring planned and safe city. General Secretary of Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon Dr. Abdul Matin presided over the event. The function was addressed, among others, by Joint Secretary of BAPA Iqbal Habib and Chief Executive of Nagorik Uddyog Zakir Hossain.
