Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon
A rally organised by different organisations including Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon, Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust, Nagorik Uddyog, Doctors for Health & Environment and Dhaka Youth Club International was held in front of the National Museum in the city’s Shahbagh on Friday. In the function the speakers demanded relocation of chemical warehouses from the residential areas in the old city. They also demanded to implement 17-point plan of 2010. The speakers demanded for ensuring planned and safe city. The programme was addressed, among others, by Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon Iqbal Habib and Chief Executive of Nagorik Uddyog Zakir Hossain. General Secretary of BAPA Dr. Abdul Matin presided over the event.
Abhinoy Shilpi Sangha
The biennial conference of Abhinoy Shilpi Sangha was held in the auditorium of Shilpakala Academy in the city. Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently. While speaking Hasan said BNP’s propaganda to make the government responsible for Chawkbazar fire is totally baseless and unacceptable. He said the practice of acting enriches the nation and that is why the government has taken various initiatives to uphold the contributions of artistes to the country’s cultural arena.
The programme was attended, among others, by noted actors Syed Hasan Imam, Mamunur Rashid, Tauquir Ahmed, Afsana Mimi and Mahfuz Ahmed. Later, the minister handed over citation crests to three cultural personalities-Lucky Imam, Suborna Mostafa and Liakat Ali Lucky. President of the organisation Shahidul Alam Sachchu presided over the event.
