International Law Students Assoc Bangladesh

The 3rd Bangladesh Qualifying Round of Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, 2019 was held at Independent University Bangladesh from February 21 to 23. University of Dhaka emerged as the new champion and Eastern University became the runner-up of the national round of Jessup Bangladesh 2019 from the 31 participating universities. Awards were given in several category, including best memorials, best mooter and best new team . Psymhe Wadud from University of Dhaka bagged the best mooter award for her excellent performance. University of Dhaka also received the Best Memorial award. On the other hand, BRAC University and Jagannath University were respectively awarded the second best Memorial and third best memorial awards. North East University and Northern University were jointly recognized with the Spirit of the Jessup Award. Jahangirnagar University was announced the Best New Team. This is the third time that Bangladesh is hosting the national qualifying round. International Law Students Association Bangladesh (ILSA) in association with the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development Assistance and Training (OPDAT) – U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ), TEER- City Group, Independent University, Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Chapter of the Asian Society of International Law jointly organised the moot court competition . Attorney General of Bangladesh, Mahbubey Alam inaugurated the ceremony on February 21 at hotel the Amari Dhaka, says a press release.

Uttara Kirtan Celebration Committee

Uttara Kirtan Celebration Committee organised a day long Sanatan Religious Festival from February 20 to 22 at Uttara Azampur Govt. Primary School Premises. The programme includes recitation from the holy Gita, religious discussions, kirtan mela, satya narayan puja and Lila Kirtan . Swami Sthiratmananda, Shubha Nitai Brahmacharya, Dhiman Das took part at the inaugural function. In the concluding day (22 Feb), Adv Sahara Khatun MP was present as Chief Guest and Isme Ara Hanif as special guest. Parimal Kumar Shom and Pranab Dasgupta greeted the chief guest and Dr Bimal Dutta, Suplab Chowdhury and Sib Sankar Modak greeted special guest with bouquet. The chief guest Adv Sahara Khatun MP thanked the Uttara Kirtan Committee for arranging this religious conglomerate annually. Kabita Basu, Amit Kumar Dash, Ajay Kumar, Nitai Chandra Das and Bina Roy Biswas were present among others in the event, says a press release.

PUB Islamic Studies Alumni Association

Dr Sayed Monjur-e-Khoda and Md Akhtaruzzaman have been selected President and General Secretary respectively of PUB (The People’s University of Bangladesh) Islamic Studies Alumni Association for 2019-2021 year . It is to be mentioned that Dr Sayed Monjur-e-Khoda was former student and presently he is also a teacher of the Department of Islamic Studies of the University. On the occasion, a special meeting of the ex-students was held and it was presided over by Dr Md Helal Uddin, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies of PUB on Saturday, says a press release.
