Journalists Housing Co-operative Society
Chattogram City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin called upon journalists to stand beside the Awami League led government for continuing economic growth and progress of the country. “The government has taken various programmes to turn Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041,” he said. The city mayor said this while delivering speech at a reception arranged by Chattogram. Journalists Housing Co-operative Society (CJHCS) at Engineer Khaled Auditorium of Chattogram Press Club yesterday afternoon. CJHCS conveyed reception to City Mayor and President of Nasirabad Housing Society for achieving an award as a successful cooperative organiser. Outlining the importance of media to strengthen democracy, Nasir said the present government does not interfere in media and thus, the media in country are carrying out their duty independently. He also sought cooperation of journalists for highlighting the ongoing development activities of the city corporation. CJHCS President Swpan Mollick presided over the programme addressed, among others, by Ali Abbas, former president of CPC, Samir Kanti Barua, vice President of CJHCS, Mohammad Shahjahan, general secretary of Nasirabad Housing Society, Hasan Ferdouse, general secretary of CJHCS, and Anjon Kumar Sen, journalist leader.
University Grants Commission
A day-long workshop on enhancing the institutional innovation capacity was held at the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh Auditorium yesterday. The event was organized for UGC and university officials to provide services to the service receivers efficiently and effectively, says a press release. UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan, graced the function as the Chief Guest while its Member Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain presided over it. UGC Member Prof Dr. Dil Afroza Begum delivered speech as the Special Guest on the occasion. Underscoring the need for innovation, the UGC Chairman said it is needed for making activities of an organization transparent, dynamic and easier. He urged UGC and university officials to enhance their skills and discharge their daily works by using digital technology and be innovative. High officials of UGC, a2i and Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division were present.
