Victory Day 2018 was celebrated at Dhaka Commerce College recently. The celebration included discussion on the War of Liberation, honoring a freedom fighter, blood donation and prize distribution . At the beginning of the programme Prof Md. Abu Syeed, Principal of the college, delivered his welcome speech. Major General Rotarian Jamil D. Ahsan BirProtik was present as Chief Guest . In his speech he said , “The zeal of our War of Liberation should be spread and kept alive in every sphere of our life. You are the future of our nation. The time of your taking over the responsibility of the country has come. The program was presided over by Professor Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Siddik, Chairman, Dhaka Commerce College governing body. He delivered his speech expressing his respect for all martyrs of the War of Liberation. He also mentioned that he expected the students to be the future builders of their motherland. Among others who spoke on the occasion were Professor Md. Shafiqul Islam, Vice-principal, Admin, Prof Md. Mozahar Jamil, Adviser (Academic) and S M Ali Azam, convener cultural committee. After the discussion session prizes of different competitions regarding the Victory Day were distributed among students who had secured positions. As an event of honoring a freedom fighter, Professor Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Siddik presented a crest and a gold medal to the chief guest. On 16 December, Prof Abu Syeed, Principal of the college, inaugurated local games including hadudu, dariabandha, gollasut, bouchi, cock fight and rope jump. The competitions were conducted by Foyez Ahmed, Physical Instructor of the college. Moreover, making the Victory Day, competitions on national anthem, patriotic songs, story writing, essay writing, poetry writing, recitation, acting, making films and art were held . Prof Md. Shafiqul Islam, Vice-principal (Admin) and S M Ali Azam, Convener cultural committee spoke on the occasion. All teachers, officers, employees and students enjoyed the spontaneous participation different events on the occasion, says a press release .
