National Alliance For Protection of Garments Workers & Industries
A human chain organised by National Alliance For Protection of Garments Workers & Industries was formed in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Saturday. In the programme the speakers demanded payment of arrears, salary of current month and festival bonus of the garments workers by Ramzan 21.They bitterly criticised retrenchment of garments workers in different factories in the lame excuse. The leaders also threatened to forge greater movement if their demanda were not met. The human chain was addressed, among others, by leaders of the organisation Shafiqul Islam, Shahidullah Badal, Lovely Yasmin, Baharane Sultan Bahar and Tapon Saha. General Secretary of Garhysthya Nari Sramik Union Murshida Akhtar Nahar also spoke on the occasion expressing her solidarity with the programme of the organisation. Leader of the alliance Abdul Wahed presided over the function.
Bangladesh United Islami Party
An Iftar Mahfil and discussion organised by Bangladesh United Islami Party was held at Jatiya Press Club in the city on Friday. Bangladesh Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hanif said it is impossible to topple the present government through carrying out secret killings. ‘Bangladesh is now progressing in all sectors. On the other hand, Begum Khaleda Zia has begun secret killings to make the country unstable, but it is impossible to remove the government by carrying out such killings,’ Hanif added. The programme was addressed, among others, by Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, Awami League Central Committee member SM Kamal Hossain and Aminul Islam Amin. Party Chairman Ismail Hossain presided over the function.
