Garments Sramik Oikya Forum
A rally organised by Garments Sramik Oikya Forum was held in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city on Friday. In the rally the speakers demanded payment of salary and festival bonus for the employees of all garmens industries within Ramzan 20. They also demanded to stop retrenchment of garment employees in the lame excuse. The programme was addressed, among others, by labour leader Shahidul Islam Sabuj, Amena Akhtar, Mominur Rahman Momin, Shafiul Alam Azad and Gazi Shafiullah. The speakers also threatened to forge greater movement if their demand is not met. President of Garments Sramik Oikya Forum Moshrefa Mishu presided over the event. A procession was also brought out in the city to meet its demands.

Pry Teachers’ Society
A discussion on ‘Quality development of primary education’ organised by Bangladesh Assistant Primary Teachers’ Society was held in Moitree Auditorium of Mukti Bhaban in the city’s Purana Palton on Thursday. Noted economist and Professor of Economics Department of Dhaka University Dr MM Akash was present as the chief guest. While speaking Akash demanded separate pay scale for all teachers and promotion on the basis of their efficiency. The programme was addressed, among others, by former professor of Notredame College Prof AN Rasheda, Convenor of the Forum for Protection Teachers’ Rights Siddiqur Rahman, former students’ leader Ruhin Hossain Prince, General Secretary of the organisation Halimuzzaman and leader of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal Rajekuzzaman Ratan. President of the organisation Shahinur Al Amin presided over the event.
