Bahnishikha
A three-day ‘Sachin Dev Barman Musical Festival’ organised by ‘Bahnishikha’, a cultural organisation began in Shawkat Osman Memorial auditorium of the Department of Public Libraries in the city’s Shahbagh on Friday. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurated the programme. After the inaugural programme the artistee of India and Bangladesh performed dance. The event was attended, among others, by President of Bangladesh Ganasangeet Samonnaya Parishad Fakir Alamgir, Managing Director of IFIC Bank Shah A Sarwar and Director of the city’s Indira Gandhi Cultural Center Dr. Neepa Chowdhury. Convenor of the Festival Celebration Council and President of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote Golam Qudduch presided over the function.
Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi
A discussion on the occasion of reunion programme of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi was held on the Central Shaheed Minar premises in Rangpur. In the programme held recently cultural personalities have underscored the need for speeding up nurturing of healthy Bengali culture to entertain the common people in building a more peaceful society. They put special emphasis on forging unity among the progressive forces to root out enemies of humanity like extremism, militancy fundamentalism and terrorism toward the direction. Local leaders, activists and artists of the organisation with socio-cultural, literary and political personalities, civil society members and elite brought out a colourful rally on the city streets on the occasion. Chairman of the reunion committee Prof Maloy Kishore Bhattacharya presided over the event. The function was addressed, among others, by Vice-President of the gosthi central committee Professor Dr Swasswato Bhattacharyya, its founding President, Rangpur unit Enamul Hafiz Bachchu and former President Professor Abdul Jalil.
