Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra
Nasimun Ara Hoq Minu and Parveen Sultana Jhuma have been re-elected as the President and the General Secretary respectively of Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra, an organisation which is working for enrichment of women journalists. A new committee of the organisation was formed at its third national conference held at Press Institute of Bangladesh in the city on Sunday. Parveen F Chowdhury and Aasha Mehreen Amin have jointly been elected as Vice-President alongside the previous committee leader Dil Monwara Monu. Treasurer Akhter Jahan Malik has been re-elected to her post. Munima Sultana and Latifa Ansari Runa have been elected as Joint General Secretary with Adity Rahman. Rita Nahar has been replaced by Shahnaz Siddiqui Soma as Organising Secretary.
Nirman Sramik Union
The representative council of Bangladesh Nirman Sramik Union was held at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh in the city’s Ramna. State Minister for Ministry of Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently. While speaking Mujibul said that compensation for accidental death of workers would be increased by at least cent percent from the existing Taka one lakh. The minister also stressed the need for taking safety precautions at construction sites, saying, “Construction workers should wear necessary safety equipments during work as it will help reduce accidental deaths in construction sites.” The function was also addressed, among others, by Workers Party General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badshah, MP and General Secretary of Bangladesh Trade Union Kendra Dr Wajedul Islam Khan. President of the union Rabiul Islam presided over the event.
