National Skill Development Council
The second phase of a selection contest styled ‘Rising Star Skill Competition’ in fashion technology category concluded at the certified laboratory of Underprivileged Children’s Education Programmes in the city’s Mirpur area on Saturday last. National Skill Development Council in association with team group organized the competition to find out the right competitors for participating in the 45th World Skill Competition scheduled to be held at Kazan in Russia from August 22 to 23 in 2019. A total of 50 contestants from different universities took part at the competition. Out of them, five will be primarily selected for an 11-month-long training and after completion of the training two will be finally selected for participating in the competition. The country is going to participate in the World Skill Competition for the first time in 2019.
Bangladesh Bam Front (Marxist)
A rally organised by Bangladesh Bam Front (Marxist) was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club. In the programme the speakers demanded Taka 16,000 as minimum salary for each garment employee. The programme was addressed, among others, by Central Chairman of Bangladesh Bam Front Dr MA Samad, Secretary General Mostofa Khalid, Sramik Front leaders Abdullah Al Mamun and Rafiqul Islam Mamun. Convenor of Bangladesh Garments Sramik Front Mohammad Khokon presided over the event.
