Sheikh Russell Shishu Sangsad
Marking the National Mourning Day, Sheikh Russell Shishu Sangsad, a national children juvenile organisation placed floral wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at 32, Dhanmondi in the city on Wednesday. The organisation also placed floral wreaths at the graves of those who embraced martyrdom including Sheikh Russell in the carnage of 1975 in the city’s Banani Graveyard. The leaders and activists of the organisation also offered prayers there for the salvation of the departed souls.
Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Parishad
Recalling the role of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib in country’s independence, Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam said Bangamata had contributed a lot to political life of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. “Bangamata helped Bangabandhu to take right decisions in all critical times of Bangali nation against the Pakistani ruler,” he told a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) recently marking the 88th birth anniversary of Bangamata. Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Parishad organized the discussion.
Qamrul said, “Bangamata was a source of inspiration, strength and courage for Father of the Nation. She was very sincere in all spheres of society including politics.” Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Aktaruzzaman, among others, addressed the discussion. President of the parishad Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
