Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad
A rally organised by Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad (SKOP) was held in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city on Thursday. In the rally the speakers demanded to give salary and festival bonus of sramik-karmachari by June 20. The rally was addressed, among others, by SKOP leaders Nurul Islam Akanda, Prokash Dutta, Abdul Wahed and Amirul Haque Amin. SKOP leader Anwar Hossain presided over the programme. The parishad also brought out a procession in the city to meet its demands.
Bangladesh Narimukti Kendra
A rally organised by Bangladesh Narimukti Kendra (BNK), a women rights based organisation was held in front of Rangpur Press Club yesterday. In the rally the speakers called for creating mass awareness against all sorts of repression and violence against woman and social erosion for building a peaceful society. They also demanded for exemplary punishments to the killers and repressors of women and children and stopping publicity of obscene advertisements, posters and porno websites. Rangpur district unit of BNK forwarded these demands after conducting a cleaning campaign of obscene posters from the walls in different areas of the city. Moderated by Office Secretary of BNK Kamrunnahar Khanom Shikha, Coordinator of district unit of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD- Marxist) Anwar Hossain Bablu addressed the rally as the chief guest. The programme was also addressed, among others, by members of BNK Rina Akhtar, Nandini Das and Fahmida Haque.
